Aize Composites LLC

Carbon fiber bike repair and restoration

Services

Aize Composites LLC offers inspection, repair, and manufacturing of advanced composite structures.  We offer both structural and cosmetic restorations, and we specialize in the repair of carbon fiber bicycle frames.  We also repair wheels, carbon soles, brake levers and fairings.  We have also repaired skis and carbon shoe soles.

How much does it cost?

A repair for a single break can cost between $125 for a minor repair, to $450 for a major damage.

Will there be any additional costs?

Very rarely there is any additional cost for the structural repair.  However the finish work, such as paint, clear coat, decals, or color matching, will incur a surcharge.

What will the repair look like?

We replicate the overall tube shape and contours.  Some repairs require additional reinforcement so there will be a slight dip or rise at the edge of the original carbon and repaired area.

How long will it take?

Usually around 3 weeks - sometimes more, sometimes less.  Extensive paint jobs or repairs requiring custom made inserts or molds may require additional time.  We have loaner bicycles that are available upon request, for the duration of the repair, which is a service that no other carbon fiber repair company provides.

Will my frame weigh more?

Your frame will gain a small amount of weight.  This gain is typically minimal, and in most cases it's less than 100 grams (3.5 oz).  Major damage repairs requiring inserts may exceed that figure.

Will my frame ride differently?

The ride quality of a repaired frame, in most cases, should remain very similar, since the dominating factors for the way a bicycle frame rides, are determined by carbon fiber modulus, fiber direction, and tube shape.  However, frames with major damage, requiring inserts or reinforcements, will be stiffer and stronger, after the repair.

What do you repaint?

We typically only repaint the area impacted from the carbon repair.  We can repaint or touch up other areas at the customer's request.

Why do I need to strip the frame from all parts?

To manipulate the frame as needed for repairs and to protect parts from over spray, all parts will need to come off of the frame.

Is there any warranty for the repair?

Aize Composites LLC offers the owner listed on the repair form, a 10 year warranty from the date of completion.  This warranty is not transferable.  Should the repair fail and we determine that it was due to an inadequate repair, we will repair and refinish it free of charge.  However, if we find that the frame was misused, crashed or has an inherent design flaw, we cannot honor the 10 year warranty.  This warranty does not cover normal wear and tear.
